I make weird videos about budget and used tech since all the big boy tech youtubers forgot what it's like to be poor with their three houses and Porsche's. Ampere? Raptor Cove? We're still rocking Pascal and Zen 3 for a third of the price! Oh and some people like my voice sometimes.

Im looking to replace my 2bay Synology nas with a 4bay while their price is appealing man on the OS side they're severely lacking. I work in IT for ages and I honestly dont have the patience to setup and troubleshoot things in my home network and I just want something thats simple and that works. Their offering, for the price is not "there yet" on the software side. I rely a lot on containerization (while they have it now), I have not heard news on Plex transcoding making use of the iGPU on their lineup. Likewise I also use mobile apps for photos, files, vpn and I dont think that Ugreens offering is ripe enough for my usecase. Good try though.
My ugreen is significantly more quiet. I have 5 16tb in it. I'm sure the drive density makes a difference.
This is so pointless. IPC matters. 250W for the equivalent of a non-x 7900 (except this xeon is slow as balls single threaded). You are spending tons in electrical bills to play tech recycler. And only 64 GB? It has error correction I guess, but I doubt it will matter to most people. 7900, b650, 96GB, and a nice case cost me $800 last September. Came with Starfield which was fun, but nothing special. I'll have 192GB whenever I feel the need, and I got an insane upgrade path for whatever flagship cpu is made for am5 in a few years. Also, you could have spent half or less, to just upgrade to a 5950. Way better idea. $300 for the efficiency king, and no goofy-assed hard lived workstation crap. Can't make a youtube video out of that though, right? "Hey guys look I upgraded to a 5950x in 2024. YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!?!?"
I got 36 cores for 199
I also hated an LG phone I used to own.
30fps on gta 5 !? Impossible it should be 100
Get the 5900XT in July instead
What about your power bill?
I like the Quadro GP100s. Why? HBM memory (lower temps) and if you add another GP100 and NVLink bridges the two cards become two Tesla P100's with on board cooling. :)
For competitive gaming, ddr3 is necessary for lower input delay. Ddr5 is horrible, can't play wit 20ms delay.
Second hand Professional workstations are an absolute bargain.
Linux mint uses the windows(super) key and arrows to snap the windows like you want
Hi . Amaizing info. I am doubtful that both the xeon 6148 gold will be utilised/recignised by win11/10. Some say some cpu clustering issue by os. I am not aware of the exact problem but some switched to Linux. Did you have similar issue with your build? ?
bro, im still on ddr3 at 1333MHz 💀💀
Gets hit by a car. Keeps posting. Just found this channel. Subscribed.
I've used several versions of Linux and Pop OS is by far the best. Also learn the terminal its a game changer
so why not off-load to gpu. it haz 10x of 10s times more tflops than cpu. yep cpu looks like a janitor in a factory after realizing that. yep cpu software is just janitor software of random os stuff.
my z420 is dead, just bought r5 5600x but i need to emulate rpcs3 , please emulate metal gear solid 4 on Intel Xeon Gold 6138 so i can make a decision and you get a video and views, please
please test metal gear solid 4 on rpcs3 on this Intel Xeon Gold 6138 cpu, i really want to know how does it perform with Intel AVX-512 instruction set, please
this Intel Xeon Gold 6138 is best for PS3 emulation
I would not suggest these for emulation. Get something with fewer more powerful cores
@@aChairLeg understandable 😊
Once you go DDR2 you're getting to get into parts that are starting to become collectors items, along with low supply of DDR2 as you say. That's why it costs so much more. Hold onto those CPUs if you haven't got rid of them already.
But can it run Crysis?
Congratulations for making the best of a tough situation!
DDR3 with 2400Hz good enough. Don't be insatiable
Linux has certainly come a long way in just a few short years. Wine and Steam Proton have advanced Linux gaming to a point where the shortcomings now lie in just a few games with certain anti-cheat software. In terms of other limitations, it's probably specific proprietary software like Adobe. But Adobe seem to be fixing that problem themselves by making their products so bad, that even Windows and macOS users don't want to use them 🤣
I always regretted selling my 5D ... so I just bought another for $200 (Surely the best bargain on the planet). I think my 40mm f/2.8 or my 50mm f/1.4 will live on it. I think it makes a perfect pairing with the 50mm, as a casual portrait camera.
Been asking this everywhere with no luck, but can we just deactivate the expansion slot to gain back the lanes and speed to our ssd slots?
you sound like a vtuber I know I'm not telling you because I don't know if you're are you supposed to be keeping secrets on that
I assure you, I am not and never will be a vtuber
and you are probabably spending $50-100 extra in energy costs. and that is at USA power rates for only 4 hours a day.
Ew, it's over $75
What services company do you use
These dude must have sent every UA-cam channel these NAS
Pretty much as far as I can tell
warzone corre mal con ddr3
I switched to Linux thanks to the abomination that was Windows 8. That OS just would constantly get in my way. I had other problems with Windows before that, but Windows 8 made it clear I could not trust Windows going forward and I was determined to switch to Linux even if I ran into issues at first, and I have run into some. In fact, when I switched it was a terrible time to do so as my hardware that came with Windows 8 was a bit too new for Ubuntu-based distros as I ran into some odd kernel issues which limited my choices. When I dealt with each issue in Linux, I felt like I was moving forward and things made logical sense. Windows problems seemed arbitrary to me in comparison. I also didn't have to use the command line all that much, and that's even less so now. Linux isn't perfect and I still run into issues, depending on my system. I have at least one machine that hates Ubuntu and Mint's network manager and I can't reliably connect with wi-fi. And it's been that way for several years. Still, I do recommend Mint(Cinnamon) as a starting point for people. MX Linux(KDE) is another good one for beginners in my opinion(and the network manager works better for me). MX has a very nice SMB utility. Issues aside, I'm a very happy Linux user. At best, I only ever tolerated Windows. I also have had great results switching my parents to Mint, and they don't know anything. I was constantly answering questions when they were on Windows, but that's not the case anymore.
Now do it again but with Garuda Linux.
Pop os is notorious for being shit, try fedora kde, and other flatpak distros like arch
Im still using a 4a as my daily driver. I bought a new Motorola phone but I hate it, and keep coming back to this smöll boï. I've never had any problems with the fingerprint sensor. Works every time.
good salvage report. mb
nice video bro , considering you bought hunk of junk just for us to confirm it's dogshit means alot to me fr.
It's what I do
few years ago got two x270 (i5 and i7), one spare for me, the other one (i7) for mom. works perfectly as a 2nd laptop. put nvme instead of the simcard modem, installed linux there. two batteries. all possible ports. charges via type-c. nice touchpad. touchpad buttons right under the keyboard are underrated - so convenient. runs all games from childhood: nfs u2, mw; gta sa, even minecraft is ok. ride bicycle with it in a backpack - literally don't care if i drop it. best second laptop so far.
Yes I got mine. Oh My. The amount of trouble is like. Should I stay with my Synology? I love the product. Not fast, i have lost 2 times the media as has erased twice the volume. 🤦🏽♂️i just add the Cache and improved a lot the speed of transfer. And yes I could bot find my NAS with my computer, but I went to the mobile, and yeap I got in. And see is there. I had a big remote session with them. But i am giving them a few weeks.
yes you should stay with your Synology tbh. Or build your own. There's too many red flags with how this NAS was advertised to people and I think if you want something turn key you're better off going with Synology or any other vendor. Or just getting your own. these things are dogshit lmao.
@@SpectraFGCNo NAS is ever dogshit if it has an unlocked bootloader. At least you can install a superior OS that can transform the NAS into something better.
@@fujinshu A Nas that you buy off the shelf and have to install another operating system on it to have the advertised functionality is very much extremely dogshit. These things aren't toys, they're appliances and you trust them with your data. They are to be on and remain on for as long as humanly possible and keep your data safe. These things are sold to people to work as turn key solutions. (The main reason most people buy a NAS in the first place) if this isn't you, you should just build one.
what is the most powerful gpu this can support?
Never seen stacked cpus before, that’s really super neat
I switched fulltime to Fedora KDE about a 5 days ago. so still learning the robes but i have managed to use mostly compatible software and hardware so far. Main things i personally miss are apple music client with hifi options ( currently i run Cider and it works but only at 256kbit ) I had some issues with a steelseries headset where i couldnt get it working as i wanted.. ended up installing Virtual box making a windows 10 VM and handing over the headset so i could run the stupid steelseries engine and save the config to the headset. Outside of that Linux has been.. interesting.. some things are really nice while others are.. odd. Like HDR Gaming seems to work if you know how to but i can't get it working. it works on the desktop tho but not when you try and playback video it just gets dark and looks off.. ( KDE Plasma 6.0.5 for refrence )
the problem is now days you can get a ryzen 5 with much better performance for only 100 more, so yeah theres that
Krita is a better editor than Gimp but isn't photoshop. I prefer Darktable as my lightroom alternative.
One cpu is pegged while the other is just chilling on the beach Sounds like me and my wife, im lifting the 500lb furniture while she just stands back and says where she wants something.
If anyone still commenting here is curious about how the FX-8350 is doing in 2024 on a single game test basis, I have been recording test runs of many modern titles covering a few genres, and posting the videos. www.youtube.com/@TheOldGodFX/videos It's a mixed bag, but honestly it has less to do with the actual age of the FX, and more to do with just its design, and what developers are willing to do to optimize for its module cpu architecture. Even in proven game engines like UE 4 or UE 5, optimization for FX is not built into the engine, so you will having shining examples of games that run amazingly well on the FX-8350 because developers went the extra mile to make it work regardless, like Robocop Rouge City or Lies of P. And then other titles using the exact same engine that are doing poorly with cpu utilization barely past 60 percent on all cores, like Mechwarrior 5, Jedi Survivor, or Alone in the Dark. In general though, there are many modern titles that the eight core Vishera based processors can handle still.
